hows it going?
i have a td gem and i'v finally got around to getting a 2L.
i havent put it in yet, but im putting the head off my 1600 on it. my car has a down draft webber and extractors. when i do the swap, while im at it im going to put in a 5 speed and lsd that i have in another gemi.
will the engine mounts be the same because the ones on the 2L are rooted? and also, i cant seem to find the cam chain tentioner. do g200's have one or whats the go? i can get one off a spare 1600 bottom end if it needs one. if you know what im on about could you please help me out.
thanks heaps tim. |

yes use the mounts from the G161 and the brackets on the block,
the g200 tensioner is located a litle further doyn the timing case and the locking / release mech looks like a link of chain and swings from one end, it is different from the G161 and cannot be interchanged, also the G200 block is a little higher look at the water pump, g161 it's flush with the top of the block, the G200 is not the block is a little taller, your aircleaner depending on what type may hot the bonnet,
cheers

Yes,
you have to push the arm that pushes on the chain back as far as possible ie release the tension on the chain, then reach down with a long thin screw driver and one end of the chain link will swing (spring loaded) and the other is fixed, now while holding the arm back push the chain link with the driver and it should lock in place as you slowly release the arm,
it may take a few goes to get it, also you can ONLY replace it with the timing cover off, ,
Cheers
