Does anyone else cop a lot of shit for owning or having an interest in geminis, or is it just me?
Recently im getting a lot more of it than usual. Why didn't you buy a commodore? Why waste your time restoring a gemini? Geminis are shit? Blah, Blah, Blah... and so forth.
I try not to let it get to me, but it is really bordering on annoying at the moment.
I think that im fairly original with my interest, in my area. The only other person that is a gemini nut here would have to be a dude called kingsley, who drives an orange supercharged V6 Pannel Van, and i even hear people say "why all that time and effort on a gemini?"
oh well, thats my whine for the day.

Of course, people pile shit on you if you restore a gemmie. While I was restoring mine, people piled heaps of the steaming dung. I explained it thus: a)I've owned it since new in 1978, its sentimental, b)I could buy a new car, but then I'm just one of the crowd, c)yes I know it is not financially responsible, eccentricity is a gift!
Now its finished, almost noone gives me shit. Those that do I just smile and think to myself, that plonker just doesn't get it. |

Name me another make and model of car that is cheap to own, cheap to run, cheap to fix, looks good stock, looks awesome modified, has so many options to modify, and has such a large cult following; this website case in point! Throw a bit of money at one and you'll smoke the doors off most street cars, and the ones you don't, I'll bet you they've had alot more money spent on them than yours! As for the late model "Rice burners", mine's CLASSIC, NOT PLASTIC!
And as GM-H said back in 1975... "You and I and Gemini"
But I might be biased?......

Don't knock my Commodores. I haven't tried towing Racegem and its trailer with a Gemini yet but I'm sure the rear chassis rails would not last long. At least it's a HOLDEN, that's all that matters!
I'd rather push my Holden than drive a F**d, and I have! lol )

Think about it, excels, skylines, FTO's, Civics, etc etc etc. Have no style when compared to something of the mid 70's era, call me biased but i think the best geminis were built between the years of 1975 and 1979, the TX,C,D were the best shape........and after all, there were no coupes in the TE,F,G series of gemini.

Celicas weigh a lot more that a gemini, thats what turned me off them, the ones i tested the handling sucked big time, and they were gutless as. I looked at heaps of them all advertised around $2K and they were all pieces of shit, i ended up buying a TC gemini for $400 and it'd blow 'em all away when it was stock. |

I considered my options a short while back, I wanted a car but it had to be:
a) Cheap (I'm a Uni Student)
b) Small (Tanks don't like turning )
c) Rear Wheel Drive! (Well, of course! *duh!*)
d) Handle well
e) Be made to go fast!
After thinking long and hard about it, the only two choices I could think of were the Gemini and Escort... upon research I found that Escorts _can_ be expensive to modify, and I also found this website.
Needless to say, after a short while seeing what you freaks were up to it was a Gemini for I!! |

Torana!
'Cheap to own and cheap to run' I think there will be a few people in this forum who wont agree with that. I have been dreaming of a fun car that doesnt drink over 27Lt/100km for ages. |
