Brake Boosters???

I was thinking of changing to the early booster/reservoir.
Do I need to change both or can I just get away with doing the reservoir ??
And how hard is it to do ??

If you want to change to the TX setup, you must change booster and master cylinder. why do you want to change?

I think its a neater setup and it makes life easier to get the manifold of..

Yes, you need both booster and master cylinder/reservoir.

I take it you are using a non-standard manifold, cause the standard one comes no where near the booster when trying to take it off.

beware that the older style master cylinder is not as good as the newer tf/tg ones, and that you may end up with a sloppier brake feel. the best option is to thread the cup inlets of a tf/tg one and with the aid of some fittings connect the tx fluid reservoir.

Sounds tricky doing the adapter thing??
Not useing aftermarket manifold but when I try to get the standard thing off its hard up against the master cylinder before it clears the studs..

Try undoing the driver side engine mount and jacking up that side of the engine, tilting it over.

I have taken mine off before without having to do this though. Worst case scenario, undo the nuts that hold the master cyilnder to the booster, and shift the master cylinder over whilst taking off the manifold.

It just seems absolutely crazy to me to change you entire brake system just so you can take off your inlet manifold. Its not like its a servicable item that you change regularly.

What you suggest is what I ended up doing last time (to change from late manifold to early) but now the little welsh plugs in the manifold are leaking and I got a new manifold to put in.I just thought that in the future if I went to a twin cam or twin side draft or what ever its pre done.Kinda thinking while I was working away-well you know how it is...........

Had the same problem meself. Undo the engine mount of that side, and jack it up. IT cleared enough for me to work out the welsh plug with a screw driver. Though you might be talking about a differently located plug.

If you want a neat brake/booster setup, I like a TF/TG master cylinder (no external propertional valve required being fed by a remote reservoir from a TX. Neat! as others have said, you'll need the appropriate booster tog o with it. Soldering of the lines is required for different plugs though.
