Why would i have two negative wires? what would the old radio have used two for? i think i would use the black one as it seems more conventional wouldn't you say?
and would i have to connect a new positive wire all the way from the battery to the dash where the "yellow" (constant 12Vs) wire on the head unit should connect to it or what do i do with that? could i tap it in to one of the lighting wires, such as the interior light switch set to "door". |

You put in a wire dirctly from the positive terminal of the battery, through the firewall, to the positive wire of the headunit. Good idea to put a fuse along the wire aswell |

hey pinkbitz
does your stereo have a constant whiring noise while its running? if so it could be because of interferance from the altenator
cheers

a fuse is a little strip of metal inside a glass or plastic container, it lets current run through but if theres to much then it blows(burns out) it saves the wires from melting and burning down your car or at least frying your stereo, most new stereos will have them in the headunit or in a white or black case along the posative wire,
if you dont have i then u should put 1 in, but its up to you, an inline fuse and holder costs around $2 and is not hard to put in.
saves alot of money in the long run if someting goes wrong
cheers

Yeh as been said before, run a new wire from the battery with an inline fuse in it. Inline fuses are just a little fuse holder with a fuse in it that you wire into the middle of the wire.
Then attatch that to your power, attatch one earth solidly and then other wire that you are thinking is a neg is prolly another positive wire or (acc) this goes to your ignition so that the stereo turns on when you turn the key.
I have mine wired up to a switch so I can turn the amp/stereo on all in one go whenever I want. |

even if u got a fuse near the head unit (one that comes with the head unit when u buy it)its still a good idea to put another neat the battery
