I've noticed recently my TE auto is making a ticking noise and the frequency follows the revs. It sounds just like a the noise when you arc a plug lead, but it's coming from around the vicinity of the gear box. Anybody got any ideas? It hasn't exploded by now so I assume it is not a car bomb. |

ok there are several possibilites as to the noise..stick your head under the bonnet...if it sounds like its at the bottom of the motor it could be gudgeon knock..or piston slap, or if near the top it could be a tappet wearing out,or out of adjustment(do you have oil in the motor? lol)
does it disappear at higher revs (3000) or get louder and faster? being an auto...does it get louder/quieter/go away, when put into gear/park/reverse?.go through these things and get back with a detailed analysis, and we'll sort it out...
its all good!

could be a valve hittin a cylinder, or maybe the main bearings at the bottom.
