Don't bother with the cruddy TD coupe. The TX is a far superior model as it has slightly larger brakes, etc on it. |

Why else is the TX better than the TD? I have a stock TD coupe and I happen to love it. It is yellow and like Adam has already mentioned, it has two doors as well.
What else does the TX have on the TD coupe then, besides brakes? |

I can't comment on the TX vs TD brakes thingy, but the TX coupe has the superior exhaust manifold, but I would still go a TD, just for the RTS. After all the exhaust manifold is hardly and in depth swap.
Also one can hope that Holden had learnt a few lesson by the time the TD came out and if nothing else a TD has had less time to revert to the iron oxide from whence it came.

TX - Shit suspension, no swaybars etc
TD - RTS
Both have same power output but the TX has less weight and higher gear ratios I think so the TX should be a little faster.
TD has the option of 5 speed, TX only came with 4's |

I don't reckon that the brakes are any different.
They might be, but I'd be surprised if the TX brakes are any better than the TD - it's usual practice that manufacturers improve this sort of stuff with each model, rather than make it worse!
I know this has already been said as well, but the TX has a weaker diff, no RTS and extra-thin swaybars, unless you happen across a Sandpiper special edition. Then you only get the better swaybars and anyone who's serious about going fast is going to get aftermarket ones anyway.
If brakes are a concern, call Just Gemini Spares in South Australia - they do a brake kit that's RTA approved (in SA at least) that combines big-arse Camry vented discs and Volvo 4 spot calipers. God, they stop good. They're a bit pricey though, but the hard work's done - they bolt on no worries. No, I don't have shares in Just Geminis, but I know the engineer who passed them and he knows his shit - besides, I've got a set and YEAH MAN, they stop. |
