As far as my sources state, the petrol powered pre '86 Rodeo's were fitted with 'G' series engines as fitted to the Gemini, save for the '85 model which was fitted with the 4ZD1 engine. It was in escence a larger capacity (2.3 litre) engine very much the same as fitted to the RB series Gemini, it too has an alloy head and has hardened valve seats making it fine to run on unleaded petrol.
In short, if it's a 'G' series engine or the 4ZD1 it will be fine to run on unleaded regardless of which year it was released.
Cheers,
Jasyn... |

Look at the vehicle the engine came from, if its unleaded, it will have a sticker around the fuel filler. Also, the compliance plate on leaded vehicles should say ADR 27, whilst unleaded vehicles will be ADR 37. |
