best way is to let your fingers do the walkin buddy, as prices will vary from state to state, some people have connections and get great deals, so you may be mislead...
cheers,

You are most likely going to run into problems if you try to bore out the 161 to 2lt because of the water jackets. |

Where did you get that its Bullshit. You can easily bore the 1.6 to 2.0L and its been done plenty of times. |

Just get a 2 litre block. it will save you all the hassles of rebuilding the engine if you fuck it somehow. And plus all the money you sink into the 1600 you could put it into the 2 litre and get a romper stomper of a gem |

all you pindicks (stock te) need to get your facts straight before you go answering everyones questions. for starters, a g161 (1548cc) cannot be 'bored' to 2l or 2000cc, it just doesnt happen, there is not enough capasity in the block. Sure people fit g200 pistons to them all the time, but fitting '2l' pistons DOES NOT mean '2l' engine!! A g161 engine has a 75mm stroke where as the g180 & g200 engines have a 82mm stroke, the difference between the two larger engines is only the bore. So therefore 7mm of stroke multiplied by 4 pistons and the size of the bore means that g2oo pistons in a g161 takes it to aprox 1750cc. This means to get 2000cc out of a g161 you would need MUCH larger pistons. yes stock te, people do it all the time, but if they actually tested the capasity size, or you knew what you were talking about, you'd discover that a 2000cc g161 is impossible.
on another note, the width between the barrels becomes so thin that you get 'hotspots' the engine temperature is normal but the thinner material overheats and can warp and all sorts of other crap, if you like the sound of a 2L gem, a g200 or bored g180 is the best bet.
by the way dude, boring engines, you have to pay for the acctual cuts and then you pay them to properly fit the pistons, you can do it yourself, but its much better to have a pro do it. a reasonable price is around $40 a barrel |

Fuck man, when I said bored to 2L I meant a g161z bored 200 thou to equal the bore size of a g200z. I should have read what I wrote before posting it. |

from what I have been told you can stroke it cant you using a 2L crank and boring it or is that just another of those stories you are told that are just a load of crap.
