Talk to yella-terra about an alloy head, this will solve the flow problems of an engine of this era, and will also lighten the engine considerably, giving you better handling in the process as less weight is up the front.
Personally, i'd go for a super/turbo charged 202 in a Torana, but that's just me.

Dustin,
Go to Castlemaine Rod Shop in Victoria, buy yourself a conversion kit $1000 and stick a great big dirty Commodore VN 3.8 V6 in your Gemini. Scare the shit out of the turbo brigade with mountains of torque and the ability to shred tyres at will! Me and a mate went camping - we drove about 300km and my stocky van with 1600cc, Weber & 4 speed cost be about $25! His VN V6 Commodore with an aftermarket supercharger and 5 speed cost him only $10. He's a bastard, and as soon as the monetary fundage has been pulled together, I'm going to stick one of those big V6s in my Gemini. Mark my words! |

These engines can be had with gearbox (manual OR auto) and computer, in the trading post for around $1500, which makes it cheaper than a SR20DET, or even a Piazza Turbo. Insurance, as it is not a turbo should be easier to get, just registering and engineering may be difficult.
And with 135kW stock, and plenty of potential for modifications, the only limit is budget, and engine Space.
