The holley is exactley the same size as the webber, and the design is actually a webber design!
The plate was a redline patr and had all of the new threads etc.

and that 2LT escorts come factory with a webber?
also that some had a water temp thermostatic choke operation?
And that if you put them on with the fuel line near the thermostat that the throttle linkage is in the same place as factory and works the same way... less modifying.
And also that you get induction noize and a whistle at idle?. and the power gains are actually not much over standard..just you can feel the secondaries open.... a thing that can be done with a factory carb.... with a screw in the right spot!

the 180 has smaller barrels than a 32/36 weber and is good on a stock gemini

HI,
With some further research, we have discovered that the carby is actually a holley 5200 series and is rated at 270 cfm.

The Holley 5200 was a license built copy of the Weber 32/36 DFAV(what do these letters mean???)

isnt it DGAV.thats wat mine is.
i tried to do that screw trick n all it used to do is jam open the secondry. the wistle sound is damn cool.
the weber i think has a very noticeable difference over stock in high revrange, and also operates a hell of alot better than stock nikki poo.

Its actually a DFAV webber equivilent.
Rated at 270cfm and is heaps better than the nikki.

I cant remember much, but I think the D stands for double, as in dual venturis, and the A stands for automatic, referring to the automatic choke.

I remember a thread about this a while back, apparently the 'A' stood for 'aqua', as in a water controlled choke. But 'automatic' sounds like a more likely abbreviate.

actually a 180 holley performs a hel of a lot better than the stock shit, u cant just bolt on a new carb and expect neck breaking performance, the right combination is required, a big carb might not do much for a stock engine, but when a lumpy cam or a good set of extractors is thrown into the equasion the holley/webber blows the nikki away.
the 32/36 webber is not exactly the same, the primary and secondary throaght are on the opposite side to each other, the throats ARE actually the same size. one of the biggest areas for improvement on a gem is the carb

another thing too, if the whistle sound pisses u off after a while...(as it did to me) just cut the small section of metal out between the two throat 'circles' on the manifold. completely eliminates the noise
