Hmmmmmm..... 160k is a little poor for a G180 turbs, my AUTO virtually stocko G200 does approx 155-160 top speed with just me in da car (no passengers - weight is da racers enemy D ). The two best things u could do for longer legs would be to fit a 5 speed, and a deisel diff 3.58:1 as opposed to 3.9:1. I would assume the combination of these two ratio changes will add maybe 15 or so extra kays to your top speed, but the diff will ever so slightly reduce your acceloration times. Not sure how involved it is to switch a wagon/panno diff to a deisel unit, maybe it has been discussed previously and a search will find u the results. Other than that, i'd look at shedding more weight, eg; lightened flywheel, lighter torque tube, make da girlfriend walk etc. hehehe Might even be worth looking at getting it tuned wit a tank of 98RON fuel wit an octane booster such as Nulon pro strength octane booster.
A few tidbits to ponder and muse upon...

get a 5 speed, my g200 TF goes 110km/h in 2nd. But it's had heaps of stuff done to it. If your willing to spend a couple thousand on it. Maybe check your speedo is workin properly, cause 170 is not right for a turbo g180.

Yah, my N/A stock G180 could pull 160-165 using standard everything and a 4spd box. definatly go 5speed box and also look into the taller diesel diff option. |

wow, only 160, in my tx coupe, i pulled it off the clock with a standard g161 and 4 speed! whilst delivering a pizza! then i bought a g180 and 5 speed with some headwork, but that only ever got upto 150ks heaps of torque though, and in my panelvan, i got 170 with a 1600, 5 speed, webber and extractors! |

yeah i've got the same story...170 in a 1600 5spd that breathed a little easier. get a five speed for sure. thats your quickest easiest option. good luck finding a diesel diff.

desile diff has different mounts and the centers arnt interchangable. so it will be a bit of a misssion.
just cos its a turbo dont mean it should be doing 300km/h
it will still have the top speed of the none turbo version. _________________

u could get taller tire profiles and re-calabrate the speedo to suit. that would up your top speed _________________

Interesting, my G161 Turbo when stretching it's legs on the nullabor cruised at 170 and wound out the speedo to point straight down, with 2 people and a car load of stuff.
5spd g16 18 psi LPG.
cheers

5 Speed
It's all to do with gear ratio, diff ratio & rolling diameter of your tyre. The only other thing of course is if you have enough engine power once you've modified all those to give you high top speed. Which you would have covered since its a turbo G180 |

But on the same note would lower your acceleration, from a standing start that is, how often do you need top speed??? |
