Vicroads Vehicle Standards Information Bulletin No.8.
Guide for modifications to motor vehicles.
5). Steering Wheels.
"Replacement steering wheels must be not less than 330mm in diameter. Steering wheels fitted to vehicles manufactured after 1970 must not be replaced with any steering wheel which would cause the vehicle not to comply with the Standards for Registration, eg. energy absorbtion.
In any case, if the original steering wheel is designed with a recessed or padded hub, the replacement wheel must be of similar design."
