The 3.8 V6 thread has been a lively one so I thought I'd continue it a-new here. I was trying to respond to Paul Clausen regarding the 3.8 V6's performance in a Gemini at Colingrove Hillclimbs but it doesn't seem to be recording it.

Paul,

I've raced my chamois 1978 TD Gemini Panelvan up there about 3 times I think. I competed in two rounds of the Sporting Car Club of SA's Winter Cup. I raced each time under the number 178. I already have troubles with that corner have have used handbrake action to good effect, but it's getting power down that's the problem. I'm quietly confident - blood hell, if that maniac in the genuine Phase III GTHO can wrestle that beast up there, then my Gemini with a 3.8 should be too much slouchier. It'll certainly be faster than it is now. Even better with LSD - YEAH!!! Again, engine choice comes down to ease of fitment and parts.

I guess the power/torque characteristics of that motor would be good for collingrove. you'll need an LSD. The other thing you have to have to be quick is some decent tyres like yokie A032R's or similar.
Just to be pedantic the red XY that goes up there (that competes in my class) is only a GS, and the yellow club car is only a GT.
I'm looking forward to seeing how my new 350hp+ engine in my RX-7 will go up there. Might not see it next year though

Oh well, that's just what someone else has told me. Perhaps they are misguided, or perhaps they like to misguide others.

In terms of the Gemini V6 up Collingrove, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm not planning on crushing any records or anything, just willing to throw the beast up the hill faster and faster until I just can't go any faster. Engine first. LSD later!
