If you want to wire up a tacho you will need to play around with it and 12 volts for a while, grab a battery and some wire, one wire will be permanent 12 volts, one wire will be earth, one wire will be 12 volt power for the light and the last wire will need to come from the positive side of the coil.
It is mostly trial and error, unless someone else can suggest a better solution, well I can, pull apart the tacho, but unless you know what to look for that is pointless. |

Ah I thinki you will find that the red wire is for power (connect to battery) the green wire is for the dizzy which you connect via the coil (eg before connecting the wire to the dizzy pass it through the coil first but connecting it straight to the dizzy will still work. Ahh the black wire is for earth connect it to earth. And the white wire is for the lighting system in the tach connect it to a fuse in the fuse box which on;y turns on when the car is on so you prevent your battery from going flat. If you want to be really tricky you can connect the white wire to the lights some how so when you turn your lights on the tacho light turns on as well so you can see yay. Then test the tacho out by baging it up and holding the needle at 6 grand for a while. Make sure the switch is on the for cylinder mode.
