just want to know if its legal in Queensland to put a Series 5 13B Turbo motor and box out of an Mazda RX7 into a TF Gemini, i know you would have to upgrade all the mods like brakes and stuff, but is it able to be engineered and registered up there? as i might be moving up queensland and dont want to have to sell it...and also if it is legal, would my current engineers report be valid up there?...please reply as i will be moving up there if it is legal, (starting my own business spray-painting)

cant see why not. should be all good, if you have the structural mods done.

do you have a 13b turbo thats engineered in nsw?

i was looking at doing the conversion and found out the biggest you can go in nsw was a N/A 13b or a 12A turbo

people percieve the rotary's capasity to be measured the same as that of a piston engine, "13b" is assumed the total capasity. in a sence it is, its the net volume of the rotor chambers, but due to the fact that they have 2 induction cycles per revolytion (hence 5 spark plugs) the total amount of combustion chamber is double thier capasity.

a more relevent capasity measurement for a 13b rotary is 2.6L (two cycles of a 1.3L combustion chamBer per 1 revolution)

wow that was really beside the point... i think they look at a 13b turbo as the equivelant of a 2.6 turbo piston engine but i couldnt tell u if that was legal

to answer all the question, i have a 13B TURBO that i want to put in the gemini, i have had a 12A Turbo in a gemini before (engineered and registered in n.s.w)
and have had a 13B TURBO in a Mitsubishi Lancer the LA model..1975 model, it was also engineered and registered in n.s.w (legal) it only weighed around 800 kilo's, and i live in n.s.w at the moment, and lol i will be moving to queensland if it is legal, i have had people come from canberra to get their cars painted, but im not going to move to melbourne..sorry..lol.

There's a post in R&D that sates the maximum engine capacity for forced and naturaly aspirated engine conversions in QLD.
The post states that the info was received directly from Department of Transport.

in QLD for a gemini

piston N/A - max 2.6L
piston forced induction - max 2.3L

rotor N/A - max 13b
rotor forced induction - max 12aT

this is all acording to the weight to power/engine volume laws in QLD. yes u can spend the money and have it all engineerd as an indevidual car like leroy has done to get his 350 chev gemini on the road. yes it is posable anything is if u have $$$$$$. but if u go out side these rules u will end up spending more money on engineering to get it legal then the whole conversion would cost u

so i was right Smile

personaly i would grind the numbers off the 13b and stamp 12a numbers in. thats how im getting the 2.6L turbo engineered, luckily i have a 2L piazza block sitting in my shed.

hehe....
