When connecting a Cold Air Intake to the intake pipe from the carby is it nessassary to disconnect the automatic choke as i have read in past posts???

also would the best, and easiest way to connect the CAI be to chop down the existing pipe to allow a wider intake or to take it off completely and connect the CAI straight onto the filter box???

Any replys appreciated!

I dont see why, the temperature of the air coming in doesn't effect how the electric choke works.

What I think you are describing is virtually the same thing, I cant see the benefit of one over the other, although chopping the neck down enough so that the cold air pipe is a snug fit would probably be easier.

Remember you need to cut a relief in the back of the filter housing. You want to surround the filter with cold air, and not pressurise the air box which may lead to lean mixtures.

The pressure possible would not be more than about 0.1 of a psi. More performance benefit than anything I reckon.
