A mate of mine has a G161 bored out to a 2 litre. It had crappy coolant run through it so theres a bit of corrosion, but I was looking at rebuilding it anyway. Im a bit wary that this motor will shit itself cause its been bored out a fair bit. The engine would be going into a TG so Im not sure if I can have a G161 in it, instead of the G160.
Any help appreciated.

Cheers.

I thort all G161,G160,G180,G200 (and any other G-series motor) will fit bolt for bolt in and TX,TC,TD,TE,TF,TG.

My last car had a G161 from a TE in a TG.

I know that the G161 was in the TX. In all my other geminis that I have owned (TC, TD, TE, TG) they have all had the G160. I just figured that the G160 had the pollution gear on it and the G161 didnt and in a TG I have to have the pollution gear.

All holden Gemini motors are the G161z. And all the motors that bolt in a Gemini bolt for bolt finish with a z. The G160, g161 and g180 (not sure about g200) are all OHV motors and can be found in different models of Bellet and other old Isuzus.

not all G series motors that bolt into a gemini have a z at the end. all G series SOHC motors bolt in no worries.

Not all G-series SOHC motors bolt straight with no worries, some require the use of a gearbox that has a starter bulge on the passenger side. The only G-series SOHC motors that are worth doing end with a z. Eg. Would you install a G180SS (identical to a twin cam from the sump to the head gasket, just single cam) in a Gemini?
